Snoop Lion

I would have gone with “Jah Snoop” but either way, Long Beach’s own Snoop Dogg has decided to go in on some reggae joints, starting with this song “La la la,” which was produced by Diplo. You might recognize that it’s the same remake he used on the “Colourless Artibella” track from the Major Lazer x La Roux LAZERPROOF mix tape, circa 2010. Streaming available at Egotripland.

Sweet Jamaica

In spite of Jamaica having a uniquely single-based music industry, centered around the latest 45′s, I decided to invest in Sweet Jamaica, the latest 2LP from dancehall veteran Mr. Vegas. I’m glad I did. Divided into two halves, the album has a “dancehall” half and a “reggae” half. The dancehall side features Vegas, and guests, over the latest riddims. The reggae side features rootsier tracks, and remakes of classic foundation songs, including several from The Harder They Come. “Sweet Jamaica” is the big chune off the album so far, and it also features Shaggy and Josey Wales.

Shimmy Shimmy Tees

Shimmy Shimmy is a great reggae/soca/dancehall blog outta UK. Definitely one of the best websites in that realm, with nothing but top shelf content and beautiful design. They’re also about making some really nice-looking reggae tees. We definitely support that. Check them out.
